Steve Isaac: Founder and Visionary
Steve is a Chartered Engineer and a Charted Marketer and has more than 25 years product development experience. He started his career with the Civil Aviation Authority, where he designed Air Traffic Control systems. He subsequently joined Reuters, where he designed dealing room systems and specialist interfaces. He then established his own company, SITRA, which developed and installed products related to bank trading and position-keeping systems. He then setup and ran a successful Ski Chalet, but kept an interest in technology through studying for a Masters in Mobile Communications because he believed that the mobile was going to affect society more than that of the internet. His frustration with the inefficiencies of the Yellow Pages and Internet search limitations led him to patent and then develop the Responsa Mobile Search concept.
Adrian Asher: Technology
Adrian has had a meteoric career within IT. He is 29 and currently global head of security for Betfair. However he has also been an extremely active consultant to many bluechip organisations and still keeps a very hands on approach to development. Adrian joined responsa 5 years ago as a contractor, and within a very short time became indispensable to the development team. The reliability, speed and flexibility of responsa is largely down to his involvement. He has always seen the power of the service and although for financial reasons works for other companies, he is a shareholder in Responsa and has made a long term commitment to support and further develop the service.
Dr Jon Alcantara: Operations
Jon brings more than ten years experience in voice services to Responsa. He started his career with Entropic Cambridge Research, a pioneering speech recognition firm later acquired by Microsoft. From there he went on to SRI Consulting and Nuance Communications, where he was in 1998 the first employee based in Europe and he helped to build Nuance’s European organization. Within two years it turned over more than $12M. In 2000 he co-founded Voxpilot Ltd, an Irish developer of VoiceXML software and platforms. In October 2001 he personally raised $1M in venture capital and became its CEO and CTO. Jon guided Voxpilot through the turbulent years of the telecom bust and was able to arrange a trade sale in 2004 to EurekaSoft SA of France. Jon has worked for the past seven years in the area of VoiceXML hosting, where he identified responsa as the most promising European project in this area. Jon received his PhD in Linguistics in 1997 from Cornell University.
